Nimage gottillade ira bahudu ... the only actor who has
one natinal award for best actor category is Late
Vasudevaiah(not sure of name) for "Chomana Dudi" that too
long backkkk
Yaake heege ... namge tilidiro haage some of our actors had given
some superb,superlative performence some are below
1.Dr. Raj: for Babruvahana,Ranadheera Kanthirava, Srikishnadevaraaaya,Sanadi appanna, etc..
2. Vishnu: for Bandhana(remember suhasini won national award for the same movie),suprabhata,Muttina haaara
3.Srinath: for Manasa sarovara
Above mentioned actors deserved award for atleast one movie...
As mentioned above Suhasini won national award for movie for Bandhana.. But Vishnu also gave superb performence y not he got award.. If u know who won award in that year for best actor ctegory...plz tell me
I might have missed some good performences .. sorry for that ... if so plz reply

As for as I remember, Master Manjunath got award for Swaami and friends, Swathi kiranam, Agneepath..I may be wrong also.

Malgudi Days was out of this world...and "Swamy and friends" was helluva good...no wonder he got international award...If u have seen it then u must get the reason why there arent any awards for kannada actors now...

Manjunath has got for "Swaami & his friends" Directed by Shankar Nag. For the same role he got an award in international film festival also.

I know Vijaya Raghavendra got it for Chinnari mutha but not Manjunath.He may have got it for Malgudi Days but this was a not in kannada film category.I have only given a few examples here and there are many other films that I have not named.Most of them are art movies.My main worry was about commercial cinema.We have done well in the art section. |

Some stars for art cinema include- Vasudeva Rao(Chomana dudi),Charuhasan(Tabarana Kathe), Nandini(Kadu).
None of the others including various stars you all have mentionaed above got it.
Jayanthi got a special mention many years ago and got an award for Miss Leelavathi.

Raj has never been considered in acting category so far. This is a real shame for us. Similarly Vishnu in films like Muthina Hara(imagine Anil Kapoor getting it for Pukar).
Raj had to get Dada Saheb Phalke after being denied for many yrs and that too only when Deve Gowda was the Prime minister.Otherwise probably they would not have given him that even now.Saroja Devi had to head the panel for Jayamala to get her award.
Dont be surprised if Mallika Sherawat got next years awards.Unfortunately these awards have lost their credibility.All wwe can say now is that we dont need them to say we make good cinema, people's appreciation is more than enough for our kannada films and stars.

There 4-5 child actor got national award. Even recently one child artist got for 2003 awards.

Yes ur right ... kannada is second in getting national awards BUT in Best FILMS Category not in Best Actor Category(in that KFI is last)..
As per my knowledge Girish has won more awards(5 or 6 time SWARNA KAMAL Awrad winner)
Puttanna's "Ranganayaki" won best film award(he might have won more confirm this)

our Girish Kasaravalli got most no of awards for his Direction....
namma Puttanna avarigu saha thumba bandhidhe... "Rammi" should confirm this....

I agree Now the situation is little bit like that ... even if actor/Actress campaign for the ruling party then they will get awrad for ex: Raveena For movie DAMAN ....
But what i don't understand is ..... money power OR Political power was not that much in olden days compared to now ... Then y Dr.Raj OR Vishnu even Nag didn't got awards..
I belive our peolpe didn't presented our industry properly ...Selectors hege Malayalam,Tamil mvies na consider maadtaaro haage namma movies nu consider maado haage aagbeku ...

Shankar Nag got best actor award for his role in Ondanodu Kaladalli(Directed by Girish Karnaad) in the Indian International Film festival held in 1977 or 1978. I am not sure whether he got the national award in the same year for the same role.
Charu Hasan(brother of Kamala Hasan) got national award for best actor in kannada film Tabarana Kathe - Directed by Girish Kasaravalli.
Dr.Raj should have got (in addition to movies already mentioned by others) for Kasturi Nivasa, Bangarada Manushya, Kulagaurava Mannina Maga etc. Anant Nag for Hamsa Geethe, Kanneshwara Rama etc. Avinash for Dweepa.
This is because at the national level politics kannadigas do not force themselves much. Mostly they surrender meekly unlike kongas. Some times they do not even try. Though he was a Super Duper Star, MGR was a worst possible actor by any standard. Even kongas will agree that MGR was not a good actor but he was a big star. Just think that even MGR got a national award for best actor for his role in Rickshaw Karan due to the politics of Karuna Nidhi(then he was friend of MGR and C.M. of Tamil Nadu.)
If Dr Raj himself wanted this award(very much deservingly) he could have got it through political pressures. But being a gem of a person he never tried for this.
But our politicians should not surrender like this.
Let us hope KFI will get one award soon.

I don't know about National award for Suhasini in muttina haaara..
But Shankar nag has not won award for BEST ACTOR category that i am 1000% sure ... he might have won awards for best director,film,supporting BUt not for Lead Actor awrad..
I agree negligence may be the reason BUT along with that popularising/showing our films & heros that they r also capable
