Parvatamma Rajkumar, the producer of this film said that the launch of second film has been delayed because they took much time to search for good story. After the success of Appu, now they must give something better than that. Raj family wanted to name the film as 'Soorya' or 'Abhimanyu' but at last they named it as Abhi as the other names are already used. Puneet's role in the film is Abhilash.

During Mahurat crazy star Ravichandran clapped for the scene and Dr. Rajkumar switched on the camera. Dr. Rajkumar recalled his days as a stage artist.
