  End of a remarkable journey…

Lokesh in Bhujangayyana DashavataraSaga of a legendary actor, director Lokesh has come to an end. This 57 year old veteran better known as 'Bhujangaiah' was hospitalized on Monday, October 11thdue to cardiac arrest. Lokesh died around 2 p.m. this afternoon (Thursday) at Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain Hospital. He struggled for three days in ICU.

Acting was in his blood for this versatile actor. Lokesh, son of theater veteran M.V. Subbaiah Naidu was born in 1947 and entered the film industry as a child artist in 1958 (Bhakta Prahlada). He created his own niche both as a film actor as well as stage artist. He was the lead actor in the first Kannada talky Sathi Sulochana. Since Lokesh was working for Information and Broadcasting Department of Karnataka he was not been able to concentrate on films till 'Kakana Kote' that featured him as a full time hero. Lokesh studied cinematography and theater was his hobby. He created a new wave through Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu that got him an enormous recognition and Bhujangayyana Dashavatara was yet another movie where he proved himself, which was his own production and he himself directed that film.

Parasangada Gendethimma, Banker Margayya and Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu are the film that fetched him State Awards. He has more than 60 films in his credits as a hero and supporting actor. Devara Kannu, Muyyi, Ellindalo Bandavaru, Sankranti, Pattanakke Banda Pathniyaru, Chandanada Bombe, Mojugaara Sogasugaara, Bhaktha Siriyala, Ranadheera, Aasegobba Meesegobba etc are some of the evergreen hit films of his. Lokesh's entire family is in acting field. His wife Girija Lokesh is a known name both in films and television. His son Srujan and Pooja both are known artists of younger generation.

Lokesh donated his organs and even his body was handed over to M.S. Ramaiah College. Till this evening his body was kept at Ravindra Kalakhsetra for public view and later brought to their residence at Banashankari.
