'Kannadada Hudugi' now in Bollywood!
This
year's State Award
for second best film went to Baraguru Ramachandrappa directed
film Kshama while the heroine of the film Bhavana was elected
as Best Actress of the year. An invitation from Bhavana who
was not seen in the in city
from almost six months came suddenly to journalist friends
a few days back to celebrate the happy moments of her winning
of best actress award. Where is Bhavana? What is she doing
etc were the questions in everyone's mind. She wasn't present
even in the 100 days celebrations
of her latest hit Preethi Prema Pranaya. After PPP, she didn't
get any good offers from our film industry. "When remuneration
was good, quality of the role was poor. When it was a healthy
role, wealth was low!" says Bhavana - a talented actress from
our own Bangalore. Instead of waiting here for ever for a
good offer, she entered Mumbai to try her luck. This was an
unexpected decision she says. When she went to Mumbai with
her folks to attend one of her relative's marriage, she was
advised by her friends to try her luck in Bollywood. That
came to her as a surprise but was looking realistic! Was not
an easy go there says Bhavana - she stayed in her relative's
house for a few days and later moved to a hostel. She started
working for a private firm! During the course, she tried to
tap the doors of Bollywood. But soon realized that those people
do not accept South Indian actors and actresses easily. Where
there is a will, there is a way; Bhavana tried her hands on
music albums and she acted in a video album titled Awara Pagal
Deewana, which will be aired soon on TV channels. Bhavana
spoke her heart and shared her good and tough experiences
in Mumbai.
Many people know her as a glamour doll (because of her dance
in Ninagagi and PPP) but in reality, she is a good actress
too. This year's State Award is an example for this. However,
she has more in her kitty. She
has acted in a Kannada film titled Shanthi, which is an experimental
film, directed by Baragooru Ramachandrappa again. Shanti is
a film that tries to bring peace on earth. Specialty of the
film is - Bhavana is the only human character in the entire
movie. In 1962 Sunil Datt had acted in a movie on similar
lines but Leela Nayak's name comes in between and was not
considered as a single role movie. Cast Away was another English
flick and even there, other characters appear in the beginning
and at the end. But Shanti has only Bhavana throughout. Can
Bhavana expect one more award for this again?
She is expecting a lot of offers from Bollywood in the near
future. From Kannada filmdom, she got many offers for 'item
songs' but she rejected them says Bhavana. She dedicated the
State Award she got this year to cine journalists and to the
Jury Members of the award committee and requested to support
her to recognize herself in Bollywood. Lets hope Bhavana will
spread the aroma of Sandalwood in North. We at viggy.com wish
her all the very best.
