'Odahuttidavalu' - Ravichandran in new avatar
Tamil's
ace director Cheran seems to be a hot favorite among Kannada
producers and directors these days. First, Sudeep bought the
rights of 'Autograph' and remade it here. It was a huge success
with the audience. Again Sudeep bought the rights of Cheran's
latest venture 'Thavamai Thavamirindu' which is yet to be
remade here. Meanwhile, producer K. Manju has silently bought
the rights of Cheran's 'Porkalam' and is called 'Odahuttidavalu'
in Kannada.
This
film is directed by 'sentiment specialist' Sai Prakash. The
film boasts of a huge starcast comprising of Crazystar Ravichandran,
Rakshitha, Radhika etc. Ravichandran himself has penned the
lyrics for this film and will score the music. This film went
to floors on Thursday morning (Mar 9) amidst a huge fanfare
at the Kanteerava studio.
Speaking about the film, Ravichandran said, "This is
my second venture with producer K. Manju. Our previous film
'Sahukara' too was a remake. It wasn't a great hit because
of Manju's 'as it is' attitude. He insisted on retain the
film as in Tamil and we followed him. He has changed his stand
now and wants the film to be done 'as I say'. He is now flexible
enough to listen to us..."
"That's good for the film as well as the film industry
because it is not a blind frame-to-frame distillation. A film
must be adapted to its nativity. For instance, the original
film was made almost nine years back. Murali was the hero
then. A lot has been changed since then and if we are taking
that subject today, it's inevitable to make adequate changes
so that we talk today's language and at the same time, our
fans are not disappointed. Since I myself is a technician,
I know what works and what doesn't, added Ravichandran.
K.
Manju took the complaint and compliments with great respect.
"During our previous venture, I didn't hear to what Ravi said
about the adaptability. So, the film bombed. If I listened
to him then, the film would have been another 'Malla'. I have
learnt a lesson and given him the entire responsibility. I
trust him" said Manju.
Director Sai Prakash was also present at the occasion."I am
very comfortable with sentiment subjects. This is a perfect
script for Ravichandran. His fans will definitely enjoy this
film. It was a great hit there (Tamil) too and bagged a national
award. Rakshitha will be playing Meena's character and Radhika
plays that of Sanghavi," he concluded.
